The Hungarian ambient black/doom metal project Vénen took up the anti-modernist banner in 2021. The term was borrowed from René Guénon, and it also refers to our traditional worldview.
It was in this light that our unique album Parameśvara was born. The album is the band’s first concept album, imbued with the spirit of the Shaivism religious tradition.
“Our album Parameśvara is the meeting of Shaivism and puritan black metal. Śiva is the creator, Śiva is the sustainer, Śiva is the destroyer and re-creator. Śiva puts an end to all suffering: he puts an end to ignorance, to avidya. He destroys the shackles of egoism locked in the cycle of existence. Turn to your inner being. Immerse yourself and listen with Śiva’s ears to what Śiva is telling you through his music. Everything is One.”
